Since 1978, the LSU Eye Center of Excellence has fostered interdisciplinary cooperation between basic scientists and clinical scientists to advance the prevention and treatment of blinding eye disease. The Center is also a recognized as a world leader in patient care, medical education and research. Its faculty is known for pioneering work in laser vision correction, cataract and other refractive surgeries, corneal transplantation, glaucoma, contact lenses, diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration, among many others.
